What a great post. I plan on setting up my 15 year old and 11 year old who are upset with me for locking down their my space accounts. I'd like them to try this as I am an avid twitter user and have made great contacts and virtual friends with common interests that way. I can see my daughter not frustrated because she is wordy like her mom, but for me son, well he can sum anything up in one sentence at his age. Thanks for an interesting post, I am always looking for new web 2.0 tools as well as new ways to use them. Thanks to CoolCat Teacher for helping me find another great technology and education blog. Please feel free to check out my blog at Shegstrom-CompTechTeacher

Tracy and Luke: OK, so apparently I'm the only one who doesn't take issue with being called a geek. I resolve hereafter to use "tech enthusiast" and "technophile" in its place. :-)

Love it, love it, love it! She asks more questions off line about her twitter friends than on. Once she gets the hang of it, I know that aside from Disney Channel online, her new group will be one she looks to often. She actually asked if her twitter page could be her home page!

I do sometimes have trouble with the character max. I find myself doing some creative abbreviating. Maybe my twitter spelling and that of an 8 year old will not be that far off!

BTW, who was the one that said we were "geeks"??? :)
