Testing a Voki

September 9, 2008 · 3 Comments

I’m wondering what this will look like when I copy-paste the code into here. Will it work?

So far, my Voki played nicely on the Voki site. I copied the code (from the options I chose “other” since Edublogs was not an option like Blogger) and pasted it in. It appears in Preview mode on my blog but I don’t hear any sound. I’m going to be brave and hit “Publish”. If you don’t hear sound (and your speakers are turned up), maybe I did something wrong. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Do you think using a voki is more user friendly than say a simply screencast or streaming video? Just thinking about applications for high school students. A voki might make a neat reading buddy…thanks for posting yours.

Lee Ann, great question. I thought I’d responded a while ago, but apparently not.

In our conservative K-8 district, I am only able to do some of the the things that I want to do with students (blogging, commenting on other students’ blogs, glogstering) because of a pledge to parents and administration to use the very safest methods I know of to protect student privacy. Vokis protect the anonymity of the child but still allow for narrating written work in the child’s voice. (Besides, the kids LOVE them!) Thanks for the question!

    Hi Kymberli
A voicethread is another way to record chn’s voices and responses with anonymity.
Thanks to your students who have leaft thoughtful comments on our blog page.
